Katie McGregor to Compete at ING New York City Marathon, site of USA Women's Marathon Championship on Nov. 7

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Nov. 1, 2010 - Team USA Minnesota's Katie McGregor will be among the top competitors at the USA Women's Marathon Championship, a race that will be held in conjunction with the ING New York City Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 7.  This will be McGregor's third marathon - she has run New York twice previously in 2:31:14 (2008) and 2:32:36 (2006).


McGregor is having a stellar year on the roads this year, having won the USA 15k Championship in March, the USA 25k Championship in May, and the USA 10 Mile Championship in early October.  Most recently she finished third at the USA 10k Championship on Oct. 11.  McGregor is leading the 2010 USA Running Circuit competition, with New York the last stop for women on the circuit.


She is now a seven-time national champion including 10k road (twice), 10,000 meters, 15k, 10 mile and 25k (twice).  Her credentials also include being a six-time World Cross Country qualifier, a three-time World Outdoor Track competitor in the 10,000 meters, and a World Indoor participant in the 3000 meters.  She was also a member of the U.S. team at the World Half Marathon Championships in 2007.  McGregor has been with Team USA Minnesota since 2001.


The USA Women's Marathon Championship and the professional women's field start at 9:10 a.m. (Eastern).  The men's elite field and first wave of the race take off at 9:40 a.m.  Another wave of runners begins at 10:10 and the final wave is at 10:40.  Some 45,000 runners are entered in the event, which goes through all five New York City boroughs and ends in Central Park.


The ING New York City Marathon will have same day coverage on NBC-TV from 2:00-4:00 p.m.(Eastern - check local listings).  There will also be live streaming of the race on Universal Sports cable and online platforms.  SMS text alerts and tracking will be available as well.  For more information about race coverage, go to
