Jon Peterson Repeats as Medtronic TC 10 Mile Champion, Eric Finan 3rd; Emily Gordon 3rd, Gina Valgoi 4th in Women's Field; Meghan Peyton Is 10th at USA Marathon Championships

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Oct. 5, 2014 - Team USA Minnesota's Jon Peterson successfully defended his title at the Medtronic TC 10 Mile today, with Eric Finan finishing third.  In the women's TC 10 Mile race, new Team USA Minnesota distance runners Emily Gordon and Gina Valgoi were third and fourth respectively.  In the USA Marathon Championships, hosted by the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon, Meghan Peyton was 10th.


Peterson's time in the 10 mile was 48:12 and Finan crossed the finish line in 48:46.  Gordon posted 59:04 for her third place in the women's 10 Mile race and Valgoi's time was 59:13.  A new field record was set in the Medtronic TC 10 Mile with 8,574 runners finishing the race, which is a companion event to the marathon.

At the USA Marathon Championships held the same day and after the 10 mile, Peyton ran 2:40:31.  An event record was also set for the marathon with 8,867 runners finishing the 26.2 mile race.

Both races started in downtown Minneapolis and finished at the State Capitol grounds in St. Paul.  The day was marked with overcast skies and a morning low for the event in the mid-30s with a high of 48.
