Emily Gordon to Run USA 15k Championships in Jacksonville on March 14; Meghan Peyton to Compete at USA Marathon Championships in Los Angeles on March 15

Minneapolis/St. Paul - March 10, 2015 - Team USA Minnesota's Emily Gordon will run in the USA 15k Championships in Jacksonville on March 14, while Meghan Peyton will compete in the USA Marathon Championships in Los Angeles on March 15.

 

The 15k Championships are being held as part of the 37th annual Gate River Run, which has hosted the USA 15k Championships for 22 consecutive years.  The race, which is billed as the largest 15k in the U.S. with over 20,000 participants, starts and finishes at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds.  The elite women will start at 8:24 a.m. (Eastern time) and the men will begin at 8:30 a.m. with the first wave of participants.

Gordon has previously posted 59:04 in the 10 mile and has run 1:14 in the half marathon.  She is making her debut at the 15k distance.  Gordon is preparing to run the Dick's Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon on May 3.

At the 30th edition of the Asics LA Marathon and site of the 2015 USA Marathon Championships, Peyton will be among the American competitors who will run the 26.2 mile "stadium to the sea" course in Los Angeles.  The elite women will start at 7:02 a.m. (Pacific time) and the elite men, along with the rest of the field, will begin at 7:25 a.m.

Peyton has posted a best of 2:38:57 in the marathon and has previously finished ninth and tenth respectively in the 2013 and 2014 USA Marathon Championships.  She is also the 2013 USA 20k Champion.
