DIII Standout Josh Dedering of UW-LaCrosse Joins Team USA Minnesota; Meghan Peyton Finishes 8th at USA Marathon Championships

Minneapolis/St. Paul - March 17, 2015 - Team USA Minnesota has added Josh Dedering - a DIII standout runner who graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse in 2014 - to its roster.  He will focus on distances from the 10k up through the marathon.


At Lacrosse, Dedering was a cross country All-American, the WIAC Conference champion in the indoor 5k, and qualified for the DIII NCAA Nationals in the indoor 5k and outdoor 10k.  During his collegiate career, he was the 2013 WIAC Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year, a three-time Capital One Academic All-American, and a six-time USTFCCCA Academic All-American.  He has degrees in Sport Management and Business Administration.

After graduation, Dedering took to the roads and finished fifth at the Medtronic TC 10 Mile last October, won the Madison Half Marathon in November and the Fiesta Bowl Half Marathon in December.  In January 2015, he ran a personal best of 1:03:31 at the USA Half Marathon Championships in Houston and obtained his 2016 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials qualifier.

"I'm looking forward to working with Josh," said Team USA Minnesota Coach Dennis Barker.  "He's made steady progress as a runner and I think he has a lot of potential to keep that going."

Dedering is from Neenah, Wisconsin, where he went to high school and competed in cross country and track.

USA Marathon Championships - March 15

At the USA Marathon Championships, held in conjunction with the Asics LA Marathon on March 15, Team USA Minnesota's Meghan Peyton finished eighth in the women's marathon championship and 11th overall in the race that included both American and international competitors.  Her time at the event, marked by high temperatures, was 2:41:50 (the winning time was 2:34:57).

This was Peyton's highest finish and third time in the Top 10 at the USA Marathon Championships, having previously finished ninth and tenth respectively in the 2013 and 2014 championships.  She has a best in the marathon distance of 2:38:57, has qualified for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials, and is the 2013 USA 20k Champion.
