Heather Kampf, Gabriele Grunewald Head to Europe to Compete in IAAF Diamond League Meets; Jon Peterson, Meghan Peyton to Run in Meets on East and West Coasts

Minneapolis/St. Paul - June 2, 2015 - Team USA Minnesota's Heather Kampf and Gabriele Grunewald head to Europe this week to compete in a series of IAAF Diamond League track meets, including in Rome, Birmingham and Oslo.  In addition, Kampf will run in the Rabat, Morocco IAAF World Challenge.  Both athletes will race the 1500 meters at each meet.


Kampf will first compete in the Rome Diamond League meet which will be held in conjunction with the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea on June 4.  Grunewald will start her European schedule in Birmingham, England, on June 7 where she will run in the Diamond League meet held at Sainsbury's Birmingham Grand Prix.

Both will then travel to Oslo, Norway, where they will compete in the Diamond League meet that will be held at the ExxonMobile Bislett Games on June 11.  Kampf will then conclude her June overseas meets on the 14th at the Rabat, Morocco IAAF World Challenge.

Kampf has a best in the 1500m of 4:06.16 and Grunewald has posted 4:01.48 for the distance.

East and West Coast U.S. Meets

Jon Peterson and Meghan Peyton will compete at the Adrian Martinez Classic track meet in Concord, Mass., on June 4.  Peterson will run the mile and has a best of 4:00.54 in the distance.  Peyton is entered in the 5000 meter race and has a best of 15:41 in the 5000.

On the West Coast, both athletes will compete at the Portland Track Festival which will be held June 13-14 at Lewis and Clark College.  Peterson will run in the 5000 meter race on June 14 and has a best of 13:36.29 at this distance.  Peyton will race either the 5000m or 10,000m on June 13.  She has a best of 32:47 in the 10,000.
