Four Team USA Minnesota Distance Runners to Compete at USATF Outdoor Championships in Eugene July 25-28

Minneapolis/St. Paul - June 23, 2015 - Four Team USA Minnesota distance runners - Gabriele Grunewald, Heather Kampf, Meghan Peyton and Jon Peterson - will be among the qualified competitors at the USATF Outdoor Championships at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, June 25-28.  At the championships, athletes can earn spots on the 2015 IAAF World Championships team set for Aug. 22-30 in Beijing, China, as well as on the Pan American Games, Thorpe Cup and NACAC Championships teams.


Grunewald has qualified in both the 1500 meters and 5000 meters with season best times of 4:04.26 and 15:19.01 respectively.  She is the 2013 U.S. Indoor Champion in the 3000 meters and has a best in the 1500m of 4:01.48, which she set in 2014.

Kampf, who is the three-time USA 1 Mile Road Champion (2012, 2014 and 2015) will compete in the 1500 meters.  She set a personal best in the distance of 4:04.50 earlier this spring.

Peyton is qualified in the 5000 meters and 10,000 meters with times of 15:56.12 (best is 15:41.1) and 32:47.37. She is the 2013 USA 20k Champion.

Also competing in the 5000 meters will be Peterson who qualified with a personal best time of 13:36.29.

The finals of the 10,000 meters will be held on Thursday evening, June 25, and the finals of the 5000 meters will be held on the last day of competition which will be Sunday afternoon, June 28.  The first round of the women's 1500 meters is on Friday, June 26, with the final set to be held on Sunday, June 28.
