Gabriele Grunewald, Heather Kampf, Jon Peterson Head to Europe for International Track Meets; Gina Valgoi is 3rd at Fifth Season 8k in Iowa

Minneapolis/St. Paul - July 6, 2015 - Team USA Minnesota's Gabriele Grunewald, Heather Kampf and Jon Peterson have traveled to Europe where they will compete during July in a series of international track meets held throughout the continent. The three will race in distances that include the 800 meters, 1500 meters, mile and 3000 meters.

 

First up will be the Cork City Sports International Athletics Meet held in Cork, Ireland, on July 7.  Kampf will run in the 800 meter race, an event she won at Cork last year, and has a best of 2:00.04 in the distance.  Peterson is entered in the men's 3000m and has a best of 7:55.36 in the event.

Grunewald will begin her European competitions at the Lausanne Diamond League meet in Switzerland on July 9.  She will run in the women's 1500 meters and has a best in the distance of 4:01.48.

On July 10, Peterson will seek to break the 4-minute mile barrier at the Letterkenny Mile Challenge in Ireland.  His best time at the distance of 4:00.54 came at this meet last year when he finished fourth.

Rounding out the first week of European competitions, Kampf will travel to Belgium to run at Kortrijk on July 11 where she will compete in either the 800m or 1500m.

Fifth Season 8k - July 4th

Gina Valgoi was third at the 30th annual Fifth Season 8k in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on July 4th.  Her time was 27:55.
