Gabriele Grunewald, Meghan Peyton to Run Track Meets in Portland Aug. 8-9; Heather Kampf, Gabriele Grunewald Finish 1-2 at Liberty Mile

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Aug. 4, 2015 - Team USA Minnesota's Gabriele Grunewald and Meghan Peyton will head to Portland, Oregon, this weekend to compete in their final domestic track meets of the season.  Grunewald will run the 1500 meters at the FloTrack Throwdown on Aug. 8, and Peyton will compete in the 10,000 meters at the Portland Track Festival on Aug. 9.


Grunewald has a best of 4:01.48 in the 1500m and Peyton has posted 32:47.37 in the 10,000m.

The FloTrack Throwdown meet begins at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and the Portland Track Festival 10,000m race will be at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday (both Pacific time).

GNC Live Well Liberty Mile - July 31

Heather Kampf won the GNC Live Well Liberty Mile in Pittsburgh on July 31 and her teammate Gabriele Grunewald was second, reversing the finishing order from the previous year.  Kampf's time was 4:33 and Grunewald crossed the line in 4:35.  The event was the third stop on the 2015 Bring Back the Mile Grand Prix Tour.

This was the fourth year that the Liberty Mile has been held on the downtown streets of the Steel City.  Kampf has won the race three times and finished second last year.  Grunewald has finished second two times and won the mile race in 2014.  She did not compete in Pittsburgh in 2013.

Also competing at the Liberty Mile was Jon Peterson who finished 11th in 4:04 in the men's race.
