Parker Stinson to Compete at USA 20k Championships in New Haven Sept. 7; Megan Goethals, Gina Valgoi to Run Victory 10k/5k in Minneapolis on Labor Day; Heather Kampf Wins Crim Mile in Michigan

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Sept. 1, 2015 - Team USA Minnesota's Parker Stinson will be among the deep field of American competitors at the USA 20k Championships in New Haven on Sept. 7.  The race is held in conjunction with the Faxon Law New Haven Road Race and starts at 8:40 a.m. (Eastern).  Also competing on Labor Day will be Megan Goethals and Gina Valgoi who will run in the Victory 10k and 5k races respectively in Minneapolis with the 10k starting at 8:00 a.m.

 

The 20k will be Stinson's longest race since graduating from the University of Oregon last spring.  To date he has marks of 34:19 in the 12k, which he posted at the .US 12k Championships last November, and 27:54 in the 10,000 meters.  Most recently he finished seventh in the Wharf to Wharf 6 mile race on July 26 with a time of 27:44.

Goethals will open up her fall racing season at the Victory 10k in Minneapolis.  She has a best of 32:52 in the 10,000 meters and has run 26:43 in the 8k on the road.  Also at the Victory races will be Valgoi who will run in the 5k.  She has run 15:54 in the 5000m.

Stinson and Goethals joined Team USA Minnesota in August while Valgoi has been with the group for a year.

Crim Mile Results

Heather Kampf won the Crim Mile in Flint, Michigan, on Aug. 21, with a time of 4:39.45 marking her sixth road mile win of the year.  The event was part of the Michigan Mile Race Series and the Crim Festival of Races.  The next day, the miler ran in the Crim 10 Mile race and finished 14th with a time of 58:52.
