Seven Team USA Minnesota Runners to Compete at Twin Cities Oct. 3-4, with Six Entered in the USA 10 Mile Championships on Oct. 4

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Sept. 29, 2015 - Seven Team USA Minnesota runners will compete in races during the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon weekend, including in the TC 10k on Oct. 3 and in the USA 10 Mile Championships hosted by the Medtronic TC 10 Mile on Oct. 4.

 

To kick off the weekend on Saturday, Biya Simbassa will run the TC 10k with the race starting at 7:30 a.m.  Simbassa has run 28:42 in the 10,000m on the track and will be running his first race as a professional athlete with Team USA Minnesota, having joined the training group this summer.  The event will be held at the State Capitol grounds in St. Paul.

Running in the USA 10 Mile Championships on Sunday will be Parker Stinson, Josh Dedering, Meghan Peyton, Emily Gordon, Katy Moen and Megan Goethals.  Dedering, Peyton and Gordon have run the Medtronic TC 10 Mile previously while Stinson, Moen and Goethals will make their first appearance at the event.  The race - which starts at 7:00 a.m. in downtown Minneapolis and finishes at the State Capitol - features a deep field of American competitors.

On the roads, Stinson has a best of 29:12 in the 10k and 34:19 in the 12k.  This will be his first 10 mile race.  Dedering ran the TC 10 Mile in 2014 where he finished fifth.  He has a best in the 10 mile of 49:40.

Peyton has a best in the 10 mile of 54:42 - the past two years she has competed in the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon finishing ninth in 2013 and tenth in 2014.  She last ran in the TC 10 Mile in 2012 to finish ninth in 55:58.

Gordon was third in the TC 10 Mile last year when it was not a championship and has a best of 59:04 in the distance.  Goethals will be running her first 10 mile race - on the roads she has posted 26:43 in the 8k and 41:10 in the 12k.  Moen will run in her first race as a professional athlete at the 10 Mile - she has run 33:09 in the 10,000m on the track.
