Katy Moen Awarded RRCA Roads Scholar Grant; Results from EQT Pittsburgh 10 Miler

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Oct. 27, 2015 - Team USA Minnesota's Katy Moen has been awarded a Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) Roads Scholar grant for 2015.  She is one of six U.S. distance runners to receive the grant this year.

Moen ran collegiately for Iowa State University where she won two Big 12 Championships, received two All-American honors, and was named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Midwest Women's Regional Track Athlete of the Year.  In the fall of her final year, the two-time cross country team captain helped lead the Cyclones to a runner-up team finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, while finishing eighth individually.

She also made two appearances in the 10,000 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Championships (2014 and 2015).  Moen graduated with personal bests of 4:22 in the 1500m, 9:08 in the 3000m, 15:52 in the 5000m, and 33:09 in the 10,000m.

"I am honored to receive this grant," said Moen, who joined Team USA Minnesota in July.  "thank you to the RRCA for believing in me and I look forward to validating their support going forward."

Since 1996, the RRCA has awarded grants totaling more than $500,000 through its Roads Scholar program.  The goal of the program is to assist American post-collegiate runners who show great promise to develop into national and world class road running athletes.
