Seven Team USA Minnesota Athletes to Run in Thanksgiving Day Events on Nov. 26

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Nov. 23, 2015 - Seven Team USA Minnesota athletes will run in Thanksgiving Day events on Nov. 26, including the Life Time Turkey Day 5k in Minneapolis, the Manchester Road Race in Connecticut, and the Silicon Valley Turkey Trot 5k in San Jose, California.


Celebrating Thanksgiving on their home course in downtown Minneapolis will be Biya Simbassa, Heather Kampf, Katy Moen, Gina Valgoi and Megan Goethals.  The event, which has been held since 1989 and attracts over 12,000 participants, starts at 8 a.m. near the Life Time Arena Club.

Meghan Peyton will travel to the East Coast for turkey day festivities and run in the 79th annual Manchester Road Race in Manchester.  The 4.748 mile race attracts some 14,000 runners and starts at 10:00 a.m. (Eastern).  Peyton last competed at this race in 2011.

Heading West will be Jon Peterson who will compete in the elite men's field of the Silicon Valley Turkey Trot 5k in downtown San Jose.  The elite men start at 8 a.m. (Pacific) and will run on a four-loop criterium style course.  This will be the 11th year for the race which also features an elite women's field prior to the start of the open 5k run.  Peterson competed at this race in 2012.
