Syracuse University Standout Rob Molke Joins Team USA Minnesota

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Jan. 5, 2016 - Team USA Minnesota has added Rob Molke - a Syracuse University standout in track and cross country who graduated in 2014 - to its roster.  Post collegiately he has run 1:03:27 in the half marathon which is a qualifying time for the 2016 U.S. Olympic Marathon Team Trials.


During his collegiate career at Syracuse, he led the cross country team to three conference titles, first place at the 2013 ACC Cross Country Championships (while finishing eighth individually) and a 10th place team finish at the 2013 NCAA Cross Country Championships.

On the track, he was second in the 10,000 meters at the 2012 Big East Championships and qualified for the 10,000 meter NCAA Div. I East Preliminary Round.  He ran a best of 28:57 in the 10,000m at the 2014 Stanford Invitational and 14:00 in the 5000m indoors at the 2014 Iowa State Classic.  His other bests include 4:06 in the mile, 8:05 in the 3000m, 23:58 for 5 miles, and 34:15 for 7 miles.

During his prep career in New Jersey, he led his cross country team to two consecutive NXN appearances with the team finishing 10th (2007) and sixth (2008).  In track, at Don Bosco Prep, he posted times of 4:12 in the 1600m and 9:10 in the 3200m.  In 2010, he placed third in the 10,000m at the USATF Junior Championships.

"Rob has the ability to compete well in cross country and on the track and has shown good potential in the longer road distances," said Team USA Minnesota coach Dennis Barker.  "I'm looking forward to working with him as he furthers his career as a professional distance runner.  He's a great fit for our team."

Molke is from Westwood, New Jersey, and has a B.S. in public relations and marketing management from Syracuse.  Since graduation in 2014, in addition to his running, he was a full-time media and public relations coordinator for the New York Road Runners.
