Minneapolis/St. Paul - Jan. 12, 2016 - Team USA Minnesota's Heather Kampf heads to Bermuda this weekend to run the Bermuda Invitational Mile on Jan. 15, while five of her teammates - Meghan Peyton, Emily Gordon, Katy Moen, Josh Dedering and Biya Simbassa - will be in Texas to compete in the Aramco Houston Half Marathon on Jan. 17.

Kampf is the three-time defending champion of the elite women's mile race (2013, 2014 and 2015) which will once again be held Friday evening.  Kampf is also a three time USA 1 Mile Road Champion (2012, 2014 and 2015).  In addition to the Bermuda Mile on Jan. 15, Kampf will defend her title at the Bermuda 10k the next day.

In Houston, Peyton and Dedering will return to once again race in the Aramco Houston Half Marathon where both have set their personal best times.  Peyton has posted 1:13:43 in the half and Dedering has run 1:03:31.

Gordon's best time in the half marathon is 1:14:13.  Moen and Simbassa will be making their professional debuts in the distance with their longest races to date occurring in the 10 mile where Moen has a 56:39 best and Simbassa has run 49:11.

In addition to competing in the Aramco Houston Half Marathon, four Team USA Minnesota athletes - Emily Gordon, Katy Moen, Josh Dedering and Biya Simbassa - are in residency in Houston from Jan. 4 through Feb. 10 to train for the 2016 Olympic Trials in either the marathon or the 10,000 meters.  The residency is part of the support the Minnesota training group receives from the Houston Marathon Foundation, with athletes staying at the Modern B&B near Rice University, training with Houston area runners, and participating in community programs.
