Heather Kampf Is 2nd at B.A.A. Invitational Mile; Biya Simbassa Is 4th at Mt. SAC Invitational 5000m

Minneapolis/St. Paul - April 19, 2016 - Team USA Minnesota's Heather Kampf placed second in the B.A.A. Invitational Mile in Boston on April 16, while Biya Simbassa finished fourth in the men's invitational 5000 meters at the Mt. SAC Relays on April 15.

Kampf's time in the B.A.A. (Boston Athletic Association) Invitational Mile was 4:49.8, just a step behind the winner.  This was the third time in a row that Kampf has been the runner-up at the mile race that is held two days before the Boston Marathon.  The tactical race unfolded on three 522-meter laps before reaching the finish line on Boylston Street.

"This course is an execution kind of a race," Kampf told Race Results Weekly.  "I've run it enough now to know where you need to be in the final two turns to win it, and I've been just off of it a couple of times."

Next up for Kampf will be the Grand Blue Mile - she is the defending champion - in Des Moines on April 26, followed by the Drake Relays where she will compete in the 1500 meters on April 29.

At the Mt. SAC (San Antonio College) Relays Distance Carnival and Invitational, Simbassa ran a personal best of 13:37.86 (previous best was 13:54.29) to place fourth in the men's 5000 meters.  His next race will be at the Payton Jordan Invitational on May 1 where he will again compete in the 5000m.

Also competing at Mt. SAC in the women's invitational 5000m on April 15 were Katy Moen, who posted 16:08.91 and Meghan Peyton who ran 16:16.76.  Both women will move up to the 10,000 meters at the Payton Jordan meet at Stanford on May 1.
