Heather Kampf Wins Grand Blue Mile; Team USA Minnesota Runners to Compete This Weekend at Drake Relays, Pittsburgh Half Marathon, Payton Jordan

Minneapolis/St. Paul - April 27, 2016 - Team USA Minnesota's Heather Kampf won the Grand Blue Mile in Des Moines on April 26 for the third straight time and is now preparing to compete in the women's invitational 1500 meters at the Hy-Vee Night at Drake Relays on April 29.  Also competing this weekend are Rob Molke at the UPMC Health Plan Pittsburgh Half Marathon, and Jon Peterson, Biya Simbassa, Meghan Peyton and Katy Moen at the Payton Jordan Invitational.


Running in her first road mile at the Grand Blue Mile, Moen finished sixth in 4:50.04.

Molke will travel east this weekend to run in the Pittsburgh Half Marathon on May 1 with the race starting at 7 a.m.  He has a best in the distance of 1:03:27.  In addition to preparing for the race, Molke has been participating in the 2016 Kids of Steel Pen Pal Program and has been regularly corresponding with an elementary school classroom since March.  He will meet the kids during race weekend.

On the west coast at the Payton Jordan Invitational held at Stanford University on May 1, Peterson and Simbassa will compete in the 5000 meters while Peyton and Moen will run in the 10,000 meters.  Peterson has a best in the 5000m of 13:33.17 and Simbassa has posted 13:37.86.  Peyton has a best in the 10,000m of 32:47.37 and Moen has run 33:09.  The distance races will be held Sunday evening.
