Five Team USA Minnesota Runners to Compete Sept. 17-18 at Cow Harbor 10k, Liberty Mile, USATF 5k Championships

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Sept. 15, 2016 - Five Team USA Minnesota distance runners will head east this weekend with Meghan Peyton, Rob Molke and Jon Peterson competing at the Great Cow Harbor 10k, Heather Kampf and Biya Simbassa racing the GNC Live Well Liberty Mile, and Simbassa doubling back to run in the USATF 5k Championships.


The Great Cow Harbor 10k will be held in Northport, New York, on Saturday, Sept. 17, starting 8:30 a.m. (Eastern time). Peterson and Peyton last ran Cow Harbor in 2014 with Peterson placing second in the men's field and Peyton finishing sixth in the women's field.  Molke will be making his first appearance at the race that goes along the Long Island Sound.

In Pittsburgh on Sept. 17, three-time champion and record-holder Kampf will seek to defend her title at the Liberty Mile and Simbassa will run the mile race on the streets of downtown Pittsburgh for the first time.  The women's professional field will start at 9:30 a.m. and the men's race will begin at 9:40 am. (Eastern).

Simbassa will then travel to Providence to compete in the USATF 5k Championships on Sunday, Sept. 18, which are hosted by the CVS Health Downtown 5k.  The race will start at 11:00 a.m. (Eastern).

Race Results

Heather Kampf was second in the women's field at the Minnesota Mile in Duluth on Sept. 11 with a time of 4:37 and Meghan Peyton was 10th in 4:52.  In the men's Minnesota Mile, Biya Simbassa was eighth in 4:05.

Also on Sept. 11 in Minneapolis, Rob Molke placed second at the City of Lakes Half Marathon with a time of 1:07:58.
