Three Team USA Minnesota Runners to Compete at Medtronic TC 1 Mile in Minneapolis on May 11

Minneapolis/St. Paul - May 9, 2017 - Three Team USA Minnesota runners - Meghan Peyton, Jamie Cheever and Kevin Lewis - will be among the competitors at the Medtronic TC 1 Mile that will be held on the streets of downtown Minneapolis on May 11.


According to race officials, the event is expected to draw more than 2,500 runners for an evening of races which start near the Mill City Museum and finish along the Mississippi Riverfront near the Guthrie Theatre.  The event is a stop on the 2017 Bring Back the Mile Grand Prix Tour.

Peyton and Cheever will be in the professional women's race which starts at 7:52 p.m., while Lewis will be in the professional men's race at 8:01 p.m.  There will be seven waves of mile races - from first-timers to pros - with the professional races completing the evening.

Peyton recently finished ninth and Cheever placed 13th in the women's field at the USA 1 Mile Road Championships in Des Moines on April 25.  Peyton has a best of 4:40 in the mile and Cheever has run 4:35.  This will be Lewis's first road mile race - he has previously run 4:07 in the mile on the track.

USA 25k Championships - May 13

Team USA Minnesota training partner Josh Dedering will run in the USA 25k Championships in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on May 13.  The race begins at 8:30 a.m. (Eastern) and is hosted by the Fifth Third River Bank Run.  The 25k is also part of the USATF Running Circuit.
