Five Team USA Minnesota Runners to Compete at USA Cross Country Championships Feb. 5; Four Athletes to Assist at TC Kids Indoor Fun Run Feb. 5

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Feb. 2, 2011 - Five Team USA Minnesota runners - Matt Gabrielson, Andrew Carlson, Emily Brown, Meghan Armstrong and Jamie Cheever - will be among the competitors at the 2011 USA Cross Country Championships in San Diego on Feb. 5.  The event is also the World Cross Country Team Trials to select six men and six women to compete at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships that will be held in Punta Umbria, Spain, on March 20.


Heather Kampf to Open Season at New Balance Indoor Grand Prix Feb. 5; Katie McGregor Is 4th, Jason Lehmkuhle 5th at USA Half Marathon Championships

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Feb. 1, 2011 - Team USA Minnesota's Heather Kampf (formerly Dorniden) will open her 2011 season by competing in the women's 800 meters at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston on Feb. 5.  The 16th annual meet, which had been known as the Boston Indoor Games, is part of USA Track & Field's Visa Championship Series.


Katie McGregor, Jason Lehmkuhle, Josh Moen to Compete at USA Half Marathon Championships Jan. 29; Results from Jack Johnson Classic

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Jan. 23, 2011 - Three Team USA Minnesota distance runners - Katie McGregor, Jason Lehmkuhle and Josh Moen - will be among the competitors at the USA Half Marathon Championships in Houston on Saturday, Jan. 29.  The championships are hosted by the Aramco Houston Half Marathon and begin at 8:00 a.m.


Matt Gabrielson, Meghan Armstrong, Jamie Cheever to Run the 3000m at Jack Johnson Classic Jan. 22

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Jan. 20, 2011 - Three Team USA Minnesota distance runners - Matt Gabrielson, Meghan Armstrong and Jamie Cheever - will run the 3000 meters at the Jack Johnson Minnesota Classic on Jan. 22.  The meet will be held at the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse.


Three-time All American Jamie Cheever Joins Team USA Minnesota

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Jan. 17, 2011 - Three-time All American Jamie Cheever, who ran collegiately for the University of Minnesota and was a prep standout at Southwest High School in Minneapolis, has joined Team USA Minnesota.  As a Golden Gopher she held school records in the mile (4:39:54), the 3000 meters (9:20.23) and in three relays.


Three Team USA Minnesota Runners Awarded MEADP Grants; Three Athletes Record Five of the Fastest 2010 U.S. Road Racing Times

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Jan. 16, 2010 - Three Team USA Minnesota distance runners have received grants from the Minnesota Elite Athlete Development Program (MEADP) for 2011.  The athletes include Meghan Armstrong, Chris Rombough and Emily Brown.  The awards were announced on Jan. 15 at the annual meeting of the Minnesota Distance Running Association (MDRA).  Armstrong and Rombough each received a grant of $1,000, and Brown was awarded $750.


Meghan Armstrong at Bay Area Cross Challenge Jan. 16; Matt Gabrielson Reflects on Bupa Cross Experience

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Jan. 12, 2011 - Team USA Minnesota's Meghan Armstrong will be among the competitors at the inaugural Bay Area Cross Challenge that will be held in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco on Jan. 16.  She will run in the open women's 6k race at 10 a.m. (Pacific time).


Matt Gabrielson to Compete on U.S. Team at Bupa Cross Country Meet in Scotland Jan. 8; Results from New York's Midnight Run

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Jan. 6, 2011 - Team USA Minnesota's Matt Gabrielson has been selected as a member of the U.S. men's team that will compete at the 2011 Bupa Great Edinburgh International Cross Country meet in Scotland.  The nine-member U.S. squad will compete against other international teams on Jan. 8.


Jason Lehmkuhle to Compete at Midnight Run in Central Park on New Year's Eve

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Dec. 27, 2010 - Team USA Minnesota's Jason Lehmkuhle will be among the professional field at the Emerald Nuts Midnight Run in New York City on New Year's Eve.  The 4-mile run, which has been held since 1978 in Central Park, starts at midnight on Dec. 31 to welcome in the new year.  A 17-minute fireworks show will be part of the festivities.


Two-time National Champion Andrew Carlson Rejoins Team USA Minnesota

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Dec. 21, 2010 - Two-time national champion Andrew Carlson has rejoined the Team USA Minnesota distance training center.  Carlson, who won the USA 15k Championship in 2008 and the USA 25k Championship in 2010, was previously with Team USA Minnesota from 2005-2008.


Katie McGregor, Antonio Vega Named USATF Long Distance Runners of the Year

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Dec. 6, 2010 - Team USA Minnesota's Katie McGregor was named Women's Long Distance Runner of the Year and Antonio Vega was recognized as the Men's Long Distance Runner of the Year at the 2010 USA Track & Field Convention in Virginia Beach.  The two received their awards at an Awards Breakfast on Dec. 4.


Seven Team USA Minnesota Runners to Celebrate Holidays at Life Time Fitness Reindeer Run Dec. 4

Minneapolis/St. Paul - Dec. 1, 2010 - Seven Team USA Minnesota distance runners will celebrate the holiday season by participating in the 23rd annual Life Time Fitness Reindeer Run 5k on Dec. 4.  The fun run starts at 9:30 a.m. at the Lake Harriet bandshell in southwest Minneapolis.  This is the ninth year the Team USA Minnesota athletes have appeared at the Reindeer Run.


Joining in the festivities along with more than 3,000 people of all ages will be:


. Emily Brown - 2009 USA Cross Country Champion and three-time qualifier for World Cross Country;


. Michelle Frey - winner of the 2010 City of Lakes 25k and U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials qualifier;


. Meghan Armstrong - fourth place finisher at both the 2010 USA Women's 10 Mile and 5k Championships;


. Kristen Nicolini - third place finisher at the 2009 USA Women's Marathon Championships with a debut time of 2:35;


. Josh Moen - winner of the 2010 City of Lakes 25k; second at the 2009 USA Men's 10 Mile Championship with the fifth fastest time ever in the U.S.;


. Chris Rombough - new member of Team USA Minnesota and a six-time All-American in cross country and track at the University of Minnesota;


. Gabriele Anderson - new member of Team USA Minnesota, second place finisher at the 2010 NCAA 1500 meter championship and ran personal best of 4:31.05 at the 2010 Fifth Avenue Mile.


The Reindeer Run supports the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves "Toys for Tots" program with participants asked to bring a contribution of an unwrapped toy.  In addition to the 5k at 9:30 a.m., a Kids 1k Run will be held at 9:10 a.m.  Official results are not kept for the Reindeer Run as the event is a fun run.
